Colton's Corner

***2019***

August 4 - This week, I had a really fun experience at the lake that we go to quite a bit. I drove up there with mom , dad, and Cooper. Callahan, Keaton, Landon, Sol, and Kate were in the other car. Luckily, there was enough beach for it to be comfortable, and we set up two spots for shade to put chairs and coolers under. For just one day, we had a lot of inflatable toys with us, such as, an "InflataBULL", two cozy little pads to set on the water and lay down on, a basketball hoop, and a paddle board. We were there for about an hour before Aidan, Amare, and Anna showed up too. The whole day was a lot of fun, especially the paddle board. I would take it out pretty far then jump off of it a few times. Another fun thing that happened this week was a sleepover with a few of my friends. There was Colin, Gage, Gordon, and Michael. I got there a little past six, and we went straight to the backyard to have a mini nerf war. We all got some pretty good guns and shot each other a lot. We eventually went back inside, then downstairs to just chill for a bit. After a while, we went to the West Jordan park near Gene Fulmer to play basketball. When we got there, it wasn't that dark, but that changed quickly. We first did a game of 21, but never finished it. We then did two games of two on two. In the first game, the teams were Gordon and I, and Gage and Michael. Gage and Michael won the first game 16 to 14. The second game, I was teammates with Gage. We ended up winning that game 18 to 16. We then walked around the park for a drinking fountain, then Greta picked us up to take us home and got pizza. We played hide n seek at around 1 in the morning, then watched a movie called, "The Ritual". I fell asleep before I could finish it though. We didn't do much in the morning besides go to the church near Gage's house to play some basketball. We did a game of 21, we me winning. And then a game of pig, which Gage won. On Saturday, Cooper, Callahan, Landon, Sol, Kate, and I went to All Star Lanes. We first did the arcade, getting three cards with about thirty dollars each. The funnest game in my opinion was Connect Four Hoops, where you had to shoot your play in the right column. After the arcade, we did two games of bowling, all six of us on one lane. The first game was just a serious game with everyone trying. Landon ended up winning with almost 150 points. The next game was everyone doing the same trickshot for one bowl, then a different shot for every bowl. A few notable moments was when Cooper got a strike by throwing the ball between his legs while he was backwards. Another one was when Landon got a strike off pushing the bowling ball with his foot. It was very fun. That was my week.

July 28 - This week, mom and dad took Cooper and I to this fast food place called Apollo Burger. I mistakenly thought that they had said Olive Garden for some reason and was surprised when we pulled up to Apollo Burger. It was still good though, I just ordered a regular burger with fries, which were better than I expected them to be. Later in the week, I had a pool party with my basketball team, however not everyone was able to show up. It was Gage, Colin, Kione, Aiseah, Kian, and I were there. We only got to swim for a short amount of time due to the lifeguards spotting lightning. We then went inside and had the food that they had prepared for us. There was salad, rice, beans, and chicken. After we hung out for a while wondering if the pool was going to open again, we just head back to Gage's house for the sleepover. It was the same people there and it was a lot of fun. Before night came, we just played the Xbox, went outside, and played tag. We stayed up for a long time, playing Call of Duty and watching movies. Colin, Aiseah, and I watched Insidious while Kian, Gage, and Kione played zombies. At about two in the morning, we played hide n seek in Gage's small basement, but it still had a lot of good hiding spots. We then watched a few episodes of a tv show before finally falling asleep. I was the first to wake up and I was turned on the television and stayed up from there. Aiseah was the next to wake up and then we played some games together on the Xbox since Gage had one Xbox in his room, and one in the main room of the basement. It was a lot of fun. On Sunday morning, mom, dad, Kate, Callahan, Cooper, and I took a hike at Silver Lake. We saw many small animals, such as squirrels, chipmunks, and one deer. That was my week.

July 21 - This journal entry will be (almost) entirely about my recent trip to Vegas for basketball. I went with Colin's family. We left on Wednesday, one day before the rest of the team. However, we left really late in the evening so we technically arrived on Thursday. Gage rode with us down to Vegas, and slept in our hotel room for a couple of nights. When we arrived, it was three in the morning, so we really just wanted to sleep. So we set up Gage's Xbox to the television, played some video games, and finally slept. I woke up before Gage and Colin. I got a call from Colin's mom because Colin was still asleep, that they needed us to get a dolley for them se they can bring a lot of groceries up to the room. I needed to wake up Colin, which turned out to be a really difficult task. I hit him with a pillow over twenty times, I open up the blinds so there was light in the room, and I took his blanket off of him. It took me roughly ten minutes to wake him up, I would later learn that he was awake for the entire time, just pretending to be asleep. That day, we spent a lot of time in the game room where there was a ping pong table, pool table, foosball table, air hockey, and shuffle board. The ping pong, foosball, and shuffle board were free to play, the pool table and the air hockey were not and both cost a dollar for a game. Pool was by far the best game to me in that room, since I do not get to play it that much. The night prior, we had found out that the hotel we were staying at had half of a basketball court outside. So, when Michael and Gordon finally showed up, we decided to play some basketball. Kione and Aiseah showed up shortly after them and we got a two on two king of the court game going. Aiseah and I were teammates. When we got two more pairs of people that wanted to play with us, we decided to just do five on five. My teammates were, Aiseah, Gage, and two other people I didn't know. Since it was so hot, we all got really sweaty. We were going to jump in the pool to cool off, but we wanted to go later so it would be dark. We only waited about an hour before Gage, Colin, Michael, Gordon jumped in the pool. We were done after about an hour of swimming and went to our room to hangout for a bit. Later in the day, when we were in the game room, Kione and Aiseah came in and we all went swimming. We had about an hour and a half before the pool closed. This hotel had three pools, two mini ones and one giant one, a lazy river, and four hot tubs. We all met Kian at the pool and everyone os us were there except for Cirus. It kind of sucked that Cirus was not able to get a room at the hotel we were all staying in. We played tag in the big pool for while, then went into the lazy river for a short amount if time, then played about an hour of volleyball in the big pool because they had a big volleyball net. Aiseah and I were the only decent ones on our team, because we also had Kian and Gordon. The other team has Kione, Michael, Colin, and Gage. Kione is really good at volleyball since he plays a lot. The next day, we had our first game against the Transition. This was the first game of the tournament, so we were all kind of nervous. We played really bad that entire game. I do not know if it was the court, the hoops, bad luck, or we just were nervous to too excited, but we played horribly. We still only lost by two points, letting us know if we played if only average, we would've won. Because of the bracketing in this tournament, you had to win the first two games to have a shot at the championship, which was really stupid. The only other thing we did that day was go to Cowabunga Bay. We got there at about three, and it closed at seven, which was perfect since our coach only wanted us to be there for a maximum of four hours anyway. The first thing we did was go straight to the wave pool, which turned out to be that funnest activity of the whole day. The waves it made were giant, especially on the sides of the pool. We also did the racing slides, where I barely made it over the giant bump. I rode the big blue side about three times, and I went on one water slide twice where you would stand on a platform, and it would drop underneath you. We finished the day in the wave pool then went and ate at this place called Nacho Daddy. It was all Mexican food that I didn't know if I would like it. I ended up getting two big burritos, (that I thought were going to be smaller) and it was not too bad. While we were waiting for a table, we saw this guy dancing, and it was obvious that he was drunk or something, but it was pretty funny. The next day we had two games, the first game was really easy, we won by over thirty points. However, the next game was a lot harder. We played a team from San Diego, California. They were an extremely aggressive team who would foul a lot. But in this game, we played really well and matched their aggression. The game was pretty close for most of it, especially at the end. We had forced two turnovers in a row and it was our ball with about eighteen seconds left. We decided to run our play "Scramble". I would dribble up the court, and Michael set a high screen for me at the wing. I would then use the screen and dribble to the corner where Gordon was, I would handed the ball off to him and screened is man. My defender then switched to defend Gordon. Gordon then pump faked and got past his man then shot a three. He made it and tied the game at 58 to 58. We then ran our press defense. When they passed it in, Kione was all over the ball, when they tried to pass it, Kione deflected it then I stole it. I was about to pass back to Kione but then his man got back on him. So I went in for a layup, drawing a foul on the guy who got the turnover. The ball almost went in but it was an obvious foul so I would get two shots with two seconds left. The first free throw rimmed out, although I thought it was going to go in. Their parent section was really loud, even louder than All Poly, but I blocked them out. I made the second free throw and we were up by one. They tried a half court shot but missed badly. The rest of the day was just hanging out with my teammates, we played some games of ping pong, pool, went swimming, and late at night, we went to go get ice cream at Cold Stone. The next day was our last game, and we played another team form California. We didn't play the best this game, especially in the first half. At one point, we were down by 18 points. But we made a really nice comeback and tied it with a few minutes to go. But then came some bad calls from the refs. Ultimately, I think that is what lost us the game. We lost by six. On our way out of the convention center, a girl apparently got her toes stuck in the side of the escalator, and it quickly had to be stopped. We didn't stick around for a long time, but it seemed bad. I ran into Austin on the way out and we talked for a minute. Later on the car ride home, he said they had to amputate some of her toes. We got home at about a quarter to eleven at night. That was Las Vegas. I also had a tournament earlier in the week with the West Jordan coach. The team was made up of mostly the seventh grade WJ team earlier in the year, with some new players. All of our game were at Sport City. We had four games in total, and we won them all. In the first game and the championship game, I played three of my friends, Ryan, Rhett and Jackson. The tournament was really fun and I'm glad I did it. That was my week.

July 14 - This was a relatively fun week, starting where Keaton, Cooper, and I split the cost of a new Super Mario game. It's really fun and you can play multiplayer. I have played the Wii version of the game several times, and it is awesome. This week, I had another sleepover at my friend's house, although this time it took place at Colin's. The same five were there, and I fell a little after five in the morning. Before we headed to Colin's house, Gage, Michael, Gordon, and I went to the dollar store to buy some food for the sleepover, we just got some chips and junk food. I was able to stay up so late by playing on my phone, on the Xbox, and watching movies. I finally fell asleep while watching a stand-up comedy show by Jeff Dunham on Netflix. The next day, when I got home, I went bowling with Cooper and Mom. I did pretty good in the first round, almost outscoring Cooper, but not as good in the second round, messing around on the few of the bowls. Later in the week, our family had a dinner at The Pie Pizza. I had only been there a couple times that I remember, and it is a good place to eat, except that the pizza has a little too much cheese in my opinion. Today, I went to Lagoon with my friend's Michael and Gordon. We all had seasons passes so it was easy to get in. We rose most of the rides at least one time, leaving out Mouse Trap and Spider. The rides that we did get was Collosus, Wicked, Cannibal, Rocket, Samurai, Jet Star, and a few other ones that I don't quite know the name of. After we were done with Lagoon, we all hung out at Michael's house for a bit, going biking to a nearby gas station, and swimming in his pool. Then, we just played his Xbox until Mom picked me and Gordon up then dropped Gordon off at his house. That was my week.

July 7 - I did quite a bit of stuff this week, starting on Monday, where I went to Lagoon with my friend, Bryant. We rode the train to Farmington, then took a shuttle bus to Lagoon. Since we have season passes, we could get in without any line or anything. We did every ride at least one and a couple of them twice. After about an hour there, we met up with a few of his cousins. Once we were done, we bought more tickets for the train and rode back to South Jordan. On Tuesday, Cooper, Sol, Landon, and I went to see a movie that had just come out, "Spiderman Far from Home". The movie was really cool and intense. I would really want to see it again. On Wednesday, I had a sleepover with four of my friends, Colin, Gordon, Gage, and Michael, at Gage's house. I think I stayed up until 2:30 in the morning before falling asleep. We did a couple fireworks early in the day, but they were small fireworks that would spin incredible fast while changing colors. Once Colin and Michael were there with us, we walked to the elementary school nearby to play on their hoops and the playgrounds. I went on the swings at one point and I jumped off at a weird angle so I was going really fast which led to me painfully falling in the woodchips. Michael and I told the others that we were going to go back to Gage's, when really we were going to go to the Dollar Store without them then brag. It was a pretty long walk, but when we finally go there, we got pretty frustrated. The Dollar Store closed at nine o'clock, and it was now 9:03. We facetimed the others and just decided to go to the Macey's across the street. We wanted to buy some fireworks after, but we had to be sixteen. We tried to pass of Michael as sixteen but they didn't buy it. We called Gage's mom and she came and bought the fireworks then gave us a ride back to the house. After that, we went to the church parking lot by them to light the fireworks. Once we ran out of the fireworks, we checked to see if the church was unlocked, and it was. We went inside to find that there was a churchball game taking place, since we couldn't join the game we decided to explore the church with all the lights off. I got the opportunity to scare mr friends by getting ahead of them then hiding. We went back to the house after that to play his Xbox. At about one in the morning, we put on a movie, "The First Purge". About halfway into the movie is when I fell asleep. The next day, Stranger Things had come out and I had already watched two episodes when everyone was still asleep in the morning. When I got back home, I watched the first episode again with Landon and Sol. After they left, I head into my room and binged the entire season. I was in my bedroom for about six hours. One Friday, I had basketball practice for the first time in a while. On Saturday, we had a basketball game against the Swoosh. They were pretty good, but we ended up winning by only a few points. They were dirty players, Gordon, Michael, and I almost got into it with them a few times because how they were playing. I got 16 points that game, hitting four three pointers. After the game, Gordon came to my house and we hung out for a bit, playing with the bumper balls, going to Maverick, riding the Segway, and then we called Gage and told him to come over to. At night, we bust out a lot of sparklers and a few little fireworks to light on the street. We lit well over 50 sparklers before being done. After that, we decided to go in the hot tub since it had gotten dark, and the hot tub is so much better in the dark. We went back downstairs and played the PS4, Xbox, and the Wii U. We all ended up falling asleep while watching the movie, "Would You Rather". I woke up again at around four in the morning because the hamster was running on its wheel, which can get really loud. I eventually ended up taking the wheel out of his cage for the night so I can actually fall asleep. That was my week.

June 30 - This week was pretty boring, other than heading to the lake for the first time this summer on Sunday. However, this experience at the lake was not as much fun as some other ones because the water level was incredibly high at this time of year. We would usually go and set up camp right on down at the beach. But, with the water level so high, we actually had to stay on this little spot above the usual. It was enough space, but it was really compact. Another problem with this trip to the lake was that the sun wasn't out, so it wasn't as warm as usual. In addition to that, the wind started early so it got pretty cold, which ultimately got us to head back to home a little early. I did not ride the wave runners, but I still did fun stuff such as use the paddle board, and dig a big hole in the cliff next to us to make a cool chair. On the ride to the lake, I rode with Sol and Landon since there wasn't enough space in the main car. It was fun though riding with them since we watched a comedian on the way there. His name was Gabriel Iglesias. He was really funny since he made sound effects by himself that really sounded like what he was describing. Other than the lake, mom took Cooper and I to the church to play basketball, it was good for me to get some shots up and work on my free throws. After I was done playing basketball, I had my first experience driving in a real car. Earlier that week I drove in my dad's Razor, but this was my first time driving a more common car. It wasn't that hard, I only did a few laps around the church and it was pretty cool. The next day, I had an appointment at the dentist, fortunately, I had no cavities. But, it might be getting close to the time for me to get braces, which I'm not too excited about. Did a derby with Dad, dropped my phone in my Mauchan and it died. There was an old phone around and we were able to get my backup on it, even my NBA game. New haircut. Mom doesn't love it. And in this week, my family has been getting into American Ninja Warrior, which is a TV show that has people with really good parkour skills to compete by running through an obstacle course. The people with the fastest time and whether or not they finished the course, will move on. That was my week.

June 23 - Other than basketball, my week consisted of, having a sleepover with my friends again, my dad buying a Razor, playing with a new toy called Bump n Run, but we just call them bumper balls, and going to Lagoon with my brother and his wife. In this basketball tournament, we had five games, and ended up winning the championship. The first game wasn't hard, we won by 25 points against the Kongo South. Although, some of their best players weren't there. In the second game, we played Utah Select and won by around five points. We could have done much better that game but we kept on letting their main player gain points by cherry picking. Their main player would always try to reach behind me to get the ball when I would blow past him. He hit me several times on the arm and I got a good bruise from it. That was the end of the basketball games for that day. On Friday, our first game was against the Utah Force. This game wasn't too hard, we didn't do that well for the first half, but improved a lot in the second half. We ended up winning by 19 points. After that game, we all decided to hang out at my house until the next game. We left after watching the end of the Kongo South lose to the Fusion even with their best players playing. We knew this game was going to be tough because the Fusion beat Kongo South with their best players, when Kongo South beat us by about 15, and the team we were playing next beat the Fusion. At our house, we played Beat Saber, Black Ops 2, the arcade machines, rode the segway, and played on our basketball hoop. In the next game, we player PAL Select. In the first half, they were doing good, and were leading by 5 points at the end. However, in the second half, we REALLY stepped it up. We quickly drew up a play that we knew would work well against their 3-2 zone defense. I would pass to a wing then quickly cut towards the basket, the wing would bounce it back to me and then the corner defenders would collapse on me so then I would dish it back out to the corner to Asea or Gage. The first time we ran the play, we easily scored a three pointer. From there, we went on almost a 20-0 run. At the end of the game, the score was 74-50, we had just beat a really tough team by over 20 points. This was the game that put us in the championship, where we would play the Club Utah Premier, who beat the Fusion in the semifinals by 3. The game was at five o'clock P.M., and Colin and I were the first ones there. Once the game before us ended, we laced up and took the court. This team was pretty good, but they mostly used two really good players. During the first half of the game, they were able to maintain a lead on us. Their best player was talking a lot of trash to me, Michael, and Gordon. Gordon and I usually had little guys defending us, making it able for us to score by driving in. When I had the little guy on me, I would blow past him using my speed, and Gordon would get inside, then body the kid up until he got to the basket. I don't remember the score at halftime but I knew they were up. We did a lot better in the second half, we scored more, passed better, and were smarter on defense and offense. I hit the only two threes of the game, because Gordon and Asea were off that game. I hit one of my threes when we got a steal and I pulled up from deep when there was a kid at the three point line. My second three was when we ran the inbound play, corner. That three was funny though since not one minute before, we had called a timeout, and in the huddle, our coach told us to run corner. He said, "When Colton hits this three, run arrow and get another bucket." We didn't quite get a bucket off arrow but it was still funny that I made the three. With about 2 minutes left, they had to start fouling because we were up. This is where Michael came in clutch, he made six free throws in a minute and a half. At one point, they tried rolling the ball to save time. Michael then sprinted because the guy who was going to pick up the ball wasn't paying attention and got the ball. After the win, we all got medals, and the team received a trophy. We got our pictures taken once by a person who would put it on the website, and then by the parents of our team. We took a few more pictures outside then went to Leatherby's as a team to celebrate. Pretty much everybody on the team ordered a Rob's Banana Split, which was huge. We were at Leatherby's for a while, until Gordon, Michael, Colin, and I decided to have a sleepover at Colin's house. At the sleepover, I had a lot of fun. Early into the sleepover, I realized that I forgot our Black Ops 2 disc at home when I wanted to bring it. Because of that, we decided to go and quickly to run to Gage's house to get his Black Ops 2 disc. After we got there, we stayed for a few minutes to talk to coach. About half of the way back, I got a call from Gage that he was coming over. We stayed up until like two o'clock watching movies. We watched IT for most of the time then most of us fell asleep before the movie was over. I woke up again at like four in the morning. Colin and Gage were still awake. I woke up again at like 8:30 and stayed up. I left the house at a quarter past 11. Earlier in the week, I went to Lagoon with Landon and Sol, and Sol's mom. We all got season passes so we might be going a lot more. We rode about all of the rides at least one time. That was my weekend.

June 16 - This week was more basketball, as what next week will be as well. Despite basketball, my week consisted of having a sleepover with a few of my friends, I helped dad with a derby where I saw a couple of my friends from Elk Ridge, we had a party at Maga's house and and Scotts and Amy's house.
The first day of my basketball tournament was on Thursday, I only had one game that day, and it was at 9 o'clock at night. It wasn't too hard of a game, but I did have to miss game six of the NBA finals for it. That game was the deciding game in the series where the Raptors won their fourth game and was NBA champions over the Golden State Warriors. In my game that night, I think we played Skyridge, and we won by 21 points. I had a pretty good game that night, not because of points though, it was my passing that was exceptional. I made quite a few passes that were really flashy and hard to stop. I got around 10 assists that game and I think I got 11 points as well. The next day, I had three games, the first against Wasatch Academy, the second against Juan Diego, and the third against Summit Academy. In the first game, we were up for about the entire game, but there was several times where the other team pulled the deficit under double digits. Wasatch was not a bad team, just not good enough to beat us. I had a decent game, scoring I think 11 or more points. I did cross this kid over a couple of times who was trying to trash talk me throughout the game, so that felt good. In the second game Juan Diego, they blew us out since they get kids from all around to play for them so they can win. They had a few players I knew, like Dillain, who was this big kid who went to my school, and a couple other kids from the Mayhem back when they were good. In the first half, we actually kept their lead under 10 points for most of the half, but then they went on a run at the start of the second half, then the score stayed the same for a lot of the game after that. In the third game, it was more fair game than the previous one, where we played a team that we ended up winning by about 9 points. They were mostly a three point shooting team, so we just had to guard them outside to keep them from scoring, but they were having a good game. We most ran our play, "five-out" where we had everyone on our team spread out behind the three point line, and I would drive past my defender to either dish it back out to someone who is open after they collapse on me, or take it all the way if they stay on their defender. I got at least 15 points that game and quite a few assists. The game ended by them having to intentionally foul to get the ball back. On Saturday, we had two games, both at Timponogus High School. The first game was really tough, we played our former teammate Isaac's team. They won the upper division of the Dimpledell league so we knew this would be a tough game. Throughout the first half, we kept it close, usually the score being between five to seven points. During the second half though, they started utilizing their big guys to score. We were not able to stop that since their big guy was about six foot two inches tall. We lost the game by around 11 points. In the second game that day, we played a team that was very good at shooting threes. They were leading us by 5 points at halftime. I think we would have won that game but then the ref called a technical foul on our player for accidentally knocking someone down when going for a rebound. Our coached saw that he did not do it on purpose so they started arguing. The ref was getting mad and then he said something to Kione's mom which got our coaches and our parents angrier. We had to forfeit the game because nothing good was going to happen if we stayed in there. The ref kept on escalating the situation instead of trying to settle it down which is ultimately why we left. After the game, I had to be dropped off at my grandma's house for a pre-Father's Day party, since our family would be busy the next day. We had a mini splash pad out for the little ones to play with, then we also had dinner which consisted of barbequed steak and chicken, corn, mac n cheese, guacamole, chips, and cake and ice cream for desert. The next day we had another party at Scott and Amy's house for Father's Day. A lot of the Westra family was there and it was really fun. Their yard looked really different because they had recently gotten rid of their trampoline which had been there for a long time. We had dinner there which was, hot dogs, chicken, salad, fruit, many different kinds of chips, and then various deserts such as, brownies, some donuts, and homemade oreos. That was my week.

June 9 - This week I had a lot of basketball, I went to this Ute Camp with hundreds of different teams on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. This week I also saw the movie, "Ma". On Saturday, I had the championship game with my Wolves for the lower division.
On Thursday of the Ute Camp, the first day, we had two basketball games. The court we were playing on was named HPER West 106 2. This was confusing for me and my teammate, since we did not know where that was. We figured that since there was a HPER East building, there had to be HPER West building as well. It took us a while to find it, since there was many different buildings. But once we finally found it, we realized that we had traveled in a giant circle and saw this building from the start just didn't notice the sign for HPER West. We walked in and saw Colin. The game didn't start for a while so we had to wait. We were playing against West, who we did recognize a few players on their team. Once the game before us finally ended, it was time for us to step onto the court. What I first realized was that the court was noticeably smaller than most courts, the half court line was just a yard or two away from the three point line, and there was barely any space between the corner three and the sideline for out of bounds. The game started and we were up in the first few minutes, Colin and Carter able to sink a few threes. At halftime, I don't remember the score but we were up. They went on a run and they did much better in the second half and they won by 7 points. In the second game on Thursday, we played the second seed, Springville. Our entire team was not too good in that game. Springville was a pretty fast-paced team and we were not able to keep up with them. They ended up winning that game by around 20 points. By after that game, Colin, Gage, and I noticed that one of our teammates, Talin, was not the best passer, or a passer at all for that matter. He would take many shots, get many turnovers, and commit many fouls. On Friday, we had two more games, one against Viewpoint, and one against Juan Diego. The first game was a nail-biter. We did end up losing by two points, but we kept it close the entire game and sometimes took the lead against a much bigger team. During the end, there were some calls that were very questionable or some no-calls that were flat-out bad reffing. With only a couple of minutes left, whenever we tried to inbound the ball, my defender would tug at my jersey a lot, at one point, I even heard a rip. They got a layup with about 10 seconds left that put them up by 2. After that, Gage, Colin, Jare, and I all went to watch the varsity game. We didn't get to finish the whole game, but we are pretty sure that they won. In our second game, we played Juan Diego, the one seed in all of the camp. Our coach was not able to make it to that game, so a few of the varsity players coached us instead, with me doing some of the REAL coaching. Juan Diego pulled kids from all over the state to just play with them, and that's why they were so good. It was a bit of a blowout just because they tried to run up the score as best as they can. They pressed the entire game, and since our team was not the best at ball handling, I had to be kept in to control the ball while they pressed. The varsity kids were impressed with me, saying that I had crazy ball handling. They won by 30 points, and they only had one kid who was not six foot tall. On Saturday, we had only one game since it was now the tournament. The strangest thing about that game was that the halves were only ten minutes while all the other games were 18 minutes. We played against East and had a very close game. During the final minute, we were down two and then I hit a that that put us up by one. However, the very next play, they hit a three. We called a timeout, where we wrote up a play for Colin to get an open three pointer. When we executed the play, they double teamed Colin which got Gage open and then he hit a three, putting us back up by one. But then the little point guard on their team got open and went in for a layup putting them up back by one. On the last play, we had no timeouts so we had to play straight after they hit their bucket. They got it into me, but they quickly double teamed me at full court so I had to give it up to Talin, right then and there I knew that was the wrong choice. He got double teamed but still threw up a three that didn't hit rim, Colin had gotten open by the time Talin shot it, and Jare was wide open in the paint, but he didn't pass. That was the end of out tournament.
On Friday, late at night, I saw the new movie, "Ma" with Sol, Landon, Cooper, Callahan, and Kate. The movie was Rated R and a couple of hours long. The first half of the movie was Ma being nice to a group of kids trying to get their trust. The second half is where it gets pretty scary. The whole movie is kind of about Ma partying with high school kids that are the children of the people who played a cruel prank on her in high school, so she can get revenge on them through their kids. The last thing that happened this week was my championship game with my Wolves. It was on Saturday, so we were worried that my Ute camp would conflict with it. Fortunately, it didn't. We played against the Salt Lake Sonics. We were expecting to play the Momentum, which was the first seed in the regular season, but they lost to the Sonics since the Sonics pulled kids from their middle and upper division teams to play in their lower division. We ended up winning by 12 points and we won some t-shirts. After the game, I went and hung out with Michael and Gordon at Michael's house. We went swimming one time, we played on his Xbox, we watched a movie, and played some basketball before Michael's dad dropped us back off at our houses. That was my weekend.

June 2 - Throughout the week, I was busy a lot. For most of the weekdays, Monday through Thursday, I had basketball camp at West Jordan High School. In the first day, I met many of the other players and all of the coaches, learned new drills, and got camper of the day at the end of it. On the second day, it was very much of the same, just doing basketball drills then incorporating those drills into mini games and scrimmages. The third day of the camp, there was not much more to it. And on the final day, the coaches gave out many awards to the winners of the mini games throughout the week. The tornado winner was a sophomore named Gabe. The day before, I won in tornado but it didn't count since it was not the final day of the camp. The winner of the hotspots was a freshman named Logan and he got 22 points. Also the day before, when we were practicing the mini game, I actually got 22 points as well on my second try, too bad it wasn't on the final day I got those 22 points. For the cutthroat winner, it was a freshman named Esaphe, and I don't know how to spell his name. With my Wolves team, we had a basketball tournament this weekend at the Expo Center. We went 4-1 and finished third in our division. We had two very close games where we ended up winning both of them. We also had a team pool party at Michael's house that has been planned for a while now. Everyone on the team attended except for Seah, who was out of town. Keoni and Cirus were the only ones who didn't spend the night there. At Michael's house, there was a mini basketball court, a pool, and a really nice area with cool recliner chairs that were similar to a movie theatre. We went swimming quite a bit, his dad cooked some pizza that he bought from Costco, we had some smores, and we watched two horror movies in the middle of the night, The Conjuring, and The Conjuring 2 although we didn't quite finish that one before falling asleep.
